Can you call up your uni? My cousin missed his offer by 1 grade and talked his way in (KCL if I recall).

Further Maths is way harder than Econ and you got an A* in that, + it’s a buyer’s market for undergraduate entrance this year so you might not be toast.

Not sure what clearing/etc. looks like or what your insurance option was but people do break in from semi-targets (especially good ones).

Chin up, it’s not like you bombed them or anything (check out the panicking on r/UniUK if you want to feel better about yourself).

You are going to be fine.

Take a gap year, apply to courses at Target Unis (look at UCL/Warwick courses, politics/history type courses) with your grades in hand. Unis will look at your grades more leniently given you have achieved A in FM.

The courses with slightly lower grade entry will be fine, doing econ/maths matters less if you are at a target.

Use your gap year to up your work experience & potentially do some form of internship so you can really craft your story and crack interviews. Also it is good life experience to work a regular job.

Also all of your ideas to break in are not going to work. Focus on getting tangible stuff on your cv so you can smash your spring week applications/learn technicals early to understand what IB actually is.

Sorry to deviate but, any particular online resources you can recommend for learning Maths/FM content? Aware of a few youtubers (tlmaths, zeeshan zamurred), but that's it atm.

What exam board are you? YT channel heavily depends on exam board.

OCR - TL maths, I used him for normal maths before I discovered bicen, was good but when you get to FM the different exam boards start to play a bigger role in differences in videos

Edexcel (me) - Bicen Maths, and pay for his additional subscriber thingy. Way better than Zamurred, Bicen has just this summer sat every single further maths module and achieved 99% in both normal and FM, see his recent video on yt channel for his score breakdown.

AQA - No clue sorry, worst exam board by far and I'd certainly recommend speaking to your teachers and switching your year group to edexcel, I'm not joking lol

Also do yourself a favour if you haven't already and buy a casio CG50, it makes your life a million times easier, bicen also has a 30 min yt video on how to use this properly. The calculator is life changing and gives you the ability to check most of your FM answers once you get really good at using it.

Final advice (mainly for fm. once/if you get good enough at fm, normal will begin to feel second nature) you want to be doing past papers until you get a minimum of 70/75 every single time. Before you do this make sure you understand all the content, emphasis on understanding it inside and out and not just being able to complete workpack questions. In my opinion you simply have to practice exam questions in the form of rinsing it until you cant make an error or else any variations in questions in the exam will throw you off massively. You need to be at the point where you understand every single question completely that's ever been asked on the latest specification (for Edexcel it's 2018 onwards im pretty sure).

Yes this final point is an absolutely monstrous amount of work to take on, but it's not the hardest A-Level by a country mile for no reason. Without a shadow of a doubt achieving an A* in further maths cost me my economics grade and I probably could've achieved an A* in econ whilst still getting an A in further. Ultimately I knew deep down it was a sacrifice that may have occurred and I was okay with it.

Any other questions feel free to message me privately, I'm happy to help in any way needed

Appreciate the super detailed response, I should've given more on my current situation to be more specific but hopefully others can take use from this too. I'll DM you shortly, can offer some advice (from my exp) on your situation too.
