How bad would you think it be if hipothetically, let's say you lied about something in your resume but it wasn't Work Experience, Education/GPA or languages?
Don't lie, but nobody said you can't omit certain things either. That said, still DON'T LIE if they ask you any questions about a topic that you wanted to avoid by omission. And definitely feel free to embellish within reason but make sure it has some kind of factual basis.
Since we're talking about GPA, that's a great example: let's say your core GPA is 3.7 but overall GPA is only 2.4. You're not lying, and also get to embellish things a little, if you say Finance GPA of 3.7 and leave off that overall GPA is 2.4. Also, once you land either of these roles and have at least two-three years of experience, and especially with any kind of promotion like A2A too, you can drop the GPA from the resume entirely and again just say you got a core GPA of 3.7 if anybody ever asks about your graduating GPA.
Appreciate the reply. So generally speaking, you can start leaving your GPA off your resume after 2/3 years of experience? Also wondering can firms rescind your offer if you have Fs on your transcript but your GPA is above the requirement? Thanks.
You should only start to drop the GPA from your resume when the jobs you're applying to are either promotion level changes or what you're applying to is something no one could get entry level and only someone with an actual professional record would be considered for. What most employers are looking at in order of importance are 1) professional experience in role and industry, 2) experience in same role just different industry, 3) experience in same industry but different role, 4) if no FT experience what about SA or internships? 5) A transcript if there's nothing else they can go off of.
A firm can rescind your offer for any reason they want. If they rescinded an offer over a couple of Fs on a transcript a lot of us wouldn't have careers, so I wouldn't get too caught up on that. Like you pointed out, if your GPA passes muster and the transcript just reaffirms that and you're not lying about it? That's usually as far as that'd ever go. If it did ever come up for some reason just practice a quick anecdote about how those are just examples of how you identified an area for personal growth and learned the lesson and came out better for it.

Just choose the better one? Unless you have a felony on your record or something I wouldn’t worry about the background check at all.
No it’s my transcripts I’m worried about. Do you know if non elite boutiques request transcripts
I mean they might, did you lie about your GPA on your resume or something? If you were truthful, then I think you have nothing to worry about.

Generally, don’t lie. You can embellish (and some would say it’s just selling yourself).
Lying usually doesn’t provide good outcomes and just leads to higher risk.
If you got caught and they cared you could lose the offer. If you don’t get caught, then it won’t matter.
