Torn on the Fourth of July

As the nation's holiday begins I am already three sheets to the wind, while a long way from home. I will keep today's post short and sweet as I hope most of you guys are off and the one's that have by some sad stroke been dragged into the 'pen will be out of there soon.

I have spent the last few months living out of a suitcase. Traveling to some places reputable and some places very much not. Seeing new places or old places you hadn't seen in a bit is always great. But nothing beats America and for today I join the ranks of the populists and the flag kissers.

Now I do have to admit it is absolutely wonderful not having seen a woman over 130 lbs for months on end. It is also pretty damn cool sitting in a cafe all day. But the party always has to come to an end and no matter how much fun I am having, I can't wait to get back.

We have problems in America. We have been dealing with some things that our collective arrogance let us to think could only happen elsewhere. But overall in spite of the fun that sometimes seems more plentiful elsewhere, nothing compares to the U.S and what it offers.

Whether it is money, creature comforts, the ability to control your own destiny or to look like a human blimp if you so choose to...no other place compares. That's it from me for today guys. Feel free to throw in a word or two about what you appreciate most about America or if not...

Have a happy and healthy 4th of July. May your brats be burned, your beers be frigid and your bullets fired in a direction away from your own body.

yes america has a ton of faults but compared to 99% of places in the world we are incredibly lucky to be here. i'm so grateful for the the opportunities i have (not just to be successful, but just to be able to speak our minds and have access to free information whenever we want) solely because i live here and i'm damn proud to be an american

Midas. Currently in Barcelona been backpacking for six weeks. Getting ready to ride to pamplona on the infamous Spanish rail system for running of the bulls in Pamplona. I can say honestly that I miss the cheapness of America. Europe is damn expensive and not worth the price you pay. The women are amazing, the all night ragers are second to none. Most of all the adventure of not knowing what is going to happen that day is true liberty, freedom, and true self reflection. Happy birthday America

I was not born in America and my parents were not American Citizens. I still have a few years to go before I become a citizen. But I will tell everyone this: I love this country. America does have many faults, but I would not choose to be anywhere else.

A lot of people who are born here do not realize how special this country is. Guess it takes an immigrant to realize that.

May god bless this great country (even though I don't believe in god)

Happy 4th of July. It still amazes me that some people did something based on a simple idea in 1776 that would change the course of human events.

samoanboyEvery time I'm in the states I can't wait to get back to the developed world.

Then stop coming to America. No one is forcing you to come. Why don't you stay in the "developed" world?
