Work experience
I am in my last year of school now. Due to COVID I have no work experience anywhere. A bit of volunteering stopped early due to COVID (if that is kinda something) I hope to get a part time job at uni. Will this heavily affect my chances of getting a spring week? I know lots of people on spring weeks have no finance related work experience, but none at all? Would it be a good idea to get work experience somewhere random over summer just so I had something?.

Absolutely. If all your firends are going to be working, and you dont have much else to do, why not gain a little job XP and make some cash. It will certianly look better on your resume than nothing at all.
