Capital required to speculate on nat gas.

Quick question here.

Aubrey McClendon started a investment firm at age 23. Then a couple years later founded CHK with $50,000.

Is this actual the amount CHK was founded on? Or was there other money involved? I imagined couple hundred thousand wouldn't be enough for a natural gas business. Or was it actually possible to speculate on natural gas with such a low investment and make it big?

Thanks for any info.
