I just wanted to know what people's opinions were about the Steel Industry? Is it a good industry to go into, what are exit opps like, etc...?

I would recommend you start out at Bethlehem Steel then try to lateral somewhere more prestigious like Birmingham Steel (unless of course you go to a target school like Pitt or Duquesne).
I would recommend inventing a new metal, naming it after yourself, and building a railroad bridge with it. Exit opps include socialists stealing it from you and running away to a secret hideaway in the mountains of Colorado.
