Commercial Underwriting Intern

Hi,

I'm a sophomore at a target school and was offered a commercial underwriting internship at a well established insurance company. I'm wondering how practical this position would be if I'm looking to pursue an internship in IB during my junior year. I did an internship at an NGO my freshmen summer and although it was an interesting experience, it wasn't very applicable to my career goals.

For reference, I'm an econ major at a school with impacted business classes so I'd also have to self study for interviews as well. I'm not too worried about self studying, but am somewhat concerned that lacking formal finance classes and experience would cut me off from getting interviews.

Thanks!
