Contacting Contract Manufacturers

Anyone know a good way to look up contract manufacturers? Particularly for electronic accessory products? I think I might have an idea, but of course am not myself a manufacturer, lol. Can Google for this, of course, but would love to know if anyone has any good resources I could look at (like a yellow pages of contract manufacturing firms).

Contract manufacturing can be tough - hard to Google for since most companies barely have a web site. Check out http://www.thomasnet.com/ for a pretty comprehensive listing of contract manufacturers by industry.

One thing I'd recommend is to interview as many as you can. Take down their contact information and actually call (don't email). You want to be sure they're personable and have American call centers (or at least speak good English). Ask for references, and actually check them. Your contract manufacturer is your lifeblood as an outsourcer, so make sure you find one you like.
