Discussing Placement with HR

Hi All,

I'll be joining the finance rotational program at a top 10 F500 firm next summer. How do I discuss placement? When I accepted the offer about 2 months ago, HR said that we should be hearing more about placement sometime in February. To get the ball rolling early, I'd like to contact them and subtly ask to be placed in my highest-ranked position, which is treasury.

Any pointers or advice on how best to approach HR regarding this issue?

Thanks, MKballer

The above. You should also search for people in the division you want and send a simple email. I would be shocked if "I have accepted an offer with your firm, and was wondering if I could speak with you about your career" didn't get a 50%+ response rate. Once you talk with people, try to get into meeting more people in person--a few hours at the office. From there, it should be easy for them to request you.

If that doen't work, you could email HR.
