Facebook is Challenging Linkedin on Job Postings?
Well Facebook seems to be making another interesting move as it is apparently rolling out job postings and applications. Every time I underestimate Facebook when it releases a new initiative I am typically wrong, so I guess I will take a wait and see approach to see how this develops further. Here is some background info from an article on CNBC:
The social network will now let employers post jobs directly to their Page, and users can apply for those jobs on Facebook. Applications are pre-populated with a user's Facebook data (though it can be altered), then sent to the employer via Messenger.Posting a job is free for employers, and there's no limit to how many posts a Page can have.
The news is not so great for existing job platforms like LinkedIn, which charges recruiters to post and promote jobs on its platform. Facebook isn't necessarily the first place you think of when looking for a new job, but it could certainly offer some competition to LinkedIn and has a much larger user base.
Do you think Facebook could mobilize their larger base in order to become a strong competitor to LinkedIn? I think that it could be possible for them to grab some market share at least among jobs that require less educational background. What do you guys think?
