There are numerous small grants and funding that you can apply for from small marketing movie companies in New York. I'm not familiar with online crowd funding, am interested to hear more about it.
Have you checked out Kickstarter?
Just came across it Primerate; thanks for pointing that out, it's a pretty solid sample of what's currently out there. I've seen a couple platforms for it Pike, nothing big. I had an idea for a startup in the space and have been doing some searching around for what's out there and trying to gauge if my idea could possibly be viable.
Before you do this, I suggest seeing the movie The Room, a banker droped 6 mil on that about 10 years ago.
Just looked it up and had a good laugh at it being cited as "the worst movie ever created." Fortunately, my idea doesn't involve me or my would be company actually producing any movie. I guess it could best be described as a different model for crowd funding films based on what I've seen so far.
Looks like my idea's dead in the water anyway. Too many regulations.
Back to the grind.
Might want to check out this event Film & FInance event http://nycff2012.eventbrite.com
Looked like a cool event. Unfortunately I would have never been able to make it up there for that.
I've seen them. My idea was much better.
