Is this normal

I recently joined a bulge-bracket IB doing Ops out of college (don't hate on me, I want to move into industry), and with the year end annual review coming up, I have been searching around for relevant information.

Recently, I learnt that any new graduate in their talent program are not allowed to be promoted at all while in the program. Given that this program is 2 years long and we join in the middle of the year, it would be 2 years 8 months before we can get our first promotion.

I am pretty disappointed by this, given that in other HR material they state that a new hire could possibly be promoted after a year.

I was wondering if that is the case at other big firms as well?

I guess you'll have to settle for that 3k bump instead of getting the bitching 5k ops associate upgrade.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

You really need an outlet for your pent up angst, try punching bunnies.

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!
