This is probably not the correct site to ask something like this, but does anyone know anything about becoming a manufacturer's representative / distributor? I don't know too much about it, but I've come across a few entrepreneurial middle market businesses which got their start as manufacturer's reps / independent distributors. Figured I'd throw it out there to see if anyone had some knowledge.

Call them and just ask. Get used to cold calling (warming up the cold call) and just asking. Its amazing how much you can learn.
