Microsoft buys GitHub for $7.4B in equity
Just saw this headline pop up while at work. For those of you that keep up in the tech space/work in ER/IBD in TMT or similar - was this something you guys saw coming?
I'm quite surprised at this epic acquisition. Would love to hear some guys' thoughts!
Just gonna ruin GitHub as it did for Skype/Nokia. Microsoft will never agree with an open source policy as well.
One of those 'late stage economy' deals where the advisors make out way better than the buyer....

"Bitcoin core developers are among those reacting angrily to news Microsoft has reportedly acquired GitHub in a deal worth at least $2 billion. The takeover, which anonymous sources claim should see an official announcement later Monday, has led to multiple calls to remove Bitcoin activity from the code repository."
