MM Sponsored Leveraged Finance

Hello,

I am about to start as a portfolio analyst (non-underwriting side) at a PE sponsored MM lending firm (great name/reputation) in Chicago. I have 2.5 yrs of tax (big 4) & 10 months of valuation (big 4) experience out of undergrad in Chicago. I'm a Level II CFA candidate (B.S. finance & accounting & CPA). I inevitably want to move into underwriting/transaction-focused work.

Any thoughts on best strategy on how to leverage this new role/experience and inevitably get into the "other side"? If you could note your experience/current work that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks.
