Need advice regarding an investment desicion

I'm a 21 year old female from NY (recent graduate). I have about 5k that I would like to invest in something ( I know it's not a lot, but I don't come fromt he richest family who sponsored my college years).

Thus, I was wondering, what can I purchase or invest in that would bring me some revenue? I don't want to lock in the money for long. Any advice?

I appreciate your help =)

You should have at least 10,000 saved in an ING account to cover emergencies and living expenses. Assuming you do, then I would suggest you invest in an index fund or low cost ETF. I wouldn't suggest building an individual stock portfolio until you have at least 10,000.

Vanguard offers pretty good low cost funds. Sign up for an online brokerage account like Scottrade or E-trade.
