Owning privately-held stocks?
My friend is entering a start-up idea into an accelerator and wants to list me as an advisor on the application. Part of this process requires allocating some equity to me. I know that all banks have strict policies on their employees owning any individual stocks (I work at a BB), but since this start-up hasn't even fully taken off and the stock wouldn't be public, would this cause any compliance issues?
I'm only considering it because I'd like to keep my options open.
