Patrick, people with website experience, please read

Fuck the street, I have a website idea that's gunna make me millions and millions of dollars.

Just kidding, to some extent. I have a website idea that I think would be both helpful and popular. Im not selling anything so I just have to focus on paying for the website.

Here is what the website would have (to get an idea on development/pricing)

-Forums such as this site (definitely not a competitor with WSO lol)

-ability to have people login and write on the site

-neat, aesthetically pleasing look

-ability to support many viewers of the site without it crashing/fucking up

Has anyone done this or have some experience? Looking to see how much coin I have to drop to start the website.

I am really serious about the idea. Thanks!

Generic forums can be downloaded and installed for free. The ability to login and write? Like a blog? That's free, too. Neat, aesthetically pleasing look could mean many things, and "neat designs" could cost...anything, really. Ability to support users would depend on the uptime of your web hosting and how much traffic it can handle.

PM me with more specific details/question. Used to work freelance web design/dev.

Definitely check out Wordpress. It's incredibly user friendly and has a ton of layouts you can pick from. I run a sports blog site in my free time and set everything up myself and I have absolutely no experience with website development. Wordpress should be able to support everything you're looking for. I didn't have to pay for a developer so my expenses were literally almost zero.

Let me know if you have any questions.

How much experience do you have? Doy you know programming? (HTML? CSS? Javascript? PHP? Python?) How internet savvy are you? Do you know what FTP means, or the difference between an IP address and a domain name?

You will want a content management system (CMS). Something like Wordpress (the CMS, not the blog) will be useful.

That's the most fucking original idea I've ever heard. Watch out FB, this guys gonna have a website....that you can LOG IN to. Fucking incredible bro

I was taught that the human brain was the crowning glory of evolution so far, but I think it's a very poor scheme for survival.

Tolland i was giving some information on what the website would require ao I could get responses on how much the website would cost/how i would go about making the website. I specifically did not say what the website will be used for, u fucking retard.

How should I reach out to find a programmer?

Dude, chill out. People can be dicks but just ignore them; clearly he misunderstood you, no need to get pissed.

I told you to PM me if you wanted advice on this stuff; I'm not going to charge you or anything, just shoot me a message and I can get you connected with a ton of resources, I used to work in the web design/dev industry. If not, then your loss.
