Big4 Transfer Pricing in large US market --> Big4 Business Valuation group --> Top10 law school and/or MBA --> V10 NY law firm/BB finance
I know that lateraling into a Big4's Valuation group isn't a cakewalk, but is it reasonable to think that coming from TP (which is largely focused on valuation itself) would make it more likely?
I already have the GPA/LSAT for a T10 law school, MBA would be a much tougher go but if I were going to LS already I would probably shoot for a joint program anyway. If I went with the law route I envision either staying focused on Tax/valuation/TP or going the Securities Law/Capital Markets route and then gunning for a move into an FS industry position after a while. With an MBA who knows what would happen.
Ultimately I would prefer to end up in Industry rather than professional/legal services
How lucrative/realistic?
I heard law is icky.
If you have the GPA / LSAT for top 10 law, why don't you do that now and skip the big 4 part?
Sincere question.
A+ kid, go get 'em tiger
Does Big 4 Valuation actually place well in MBAs? Serious question, would love an answer.
"If you have the GPA / LSAT for top 10 law, why don't you do that now and skip the big 4 part?"
A couple of reasons: 1) The legal market is terrible, and while most law schools don't place much emphasis on work experience in admissions, everyone I've talked to in the legal world says that firms hiring out of law school actually give a fair amount of weight to it, especially if its in a relevant area. 2) Some law schools are actually considering WE much more heavily in admissions than they used to, I spoke personally with the HLS admissions dean and he said as much was true for HLS. My stats are good for the lower end of top 10 but 2 more semesters of grades and a couple years of WE would make HLS look a lot more realistic for my numbers. 3) I just don't want to be a K-JDer, I think it is important on some level to get real world experience, and I think it would really help strengthen/focus a law school app.

I have no idea, I'd love to hear as well.

a JD is a terrible idea if you don't want to practice law. Also, from a lower t10 like Michigan/Berk/Virginia you will need to be like top 10% in your classes (that are graded extremely arbitrarily) to have a shot at the v10.
