How do companies in UAE handle end-of-service benefits?

I’ve been reading about how gratuity and end-of-service benefits work in the UAE. From what I understand, it depends on contract type (limited/unlimited) and years of service. But in practice, do companies in Dubai/Abu Dhabi usually follow the law strictly, or are there cases where employees struggle to get their full entitlement? Would love to hear your experiences.
