When I think of value add, I think of equity research, hedge funds, and financial engineering (Greatest value-add, most skill required). IB imo is pretty inefficient; mostly financial modeling and deals and maybe some more nuance things.
What fields in finance do you think about when you hear about value added fields in finance?
