Why aren’t you working in AI?

There seems to be a lot of discussion, both on WSO and in mainstream media, around AI and its potential to impact the workforce and the demand for our jobs.

If you are sold / feel strongly about AI, have you considered leaving the industry to go work in AI? For those who haven’t, why aren’t you working in AI?

Although it’s an overly simplistic / naïve / slightly exaggerated viewpoint of the world - if AI is truly going to be one of humans’ most influential technological developments, shouldn’t we all be running to the gold rush (either to find actual gold, or profit from the picks & axes)?
