Why did you get into your industry?

I just finished several rounds of job interviews and ended up talking to a CEO for a marketing company. During the interview I came across a simple, yet reflective question:

"What's the best question you heard recently from a customer or supplier?"

She replied "Why'd you get into the industry?". She worked with IBM as a saleswoman and decided to switch industries because of the constant leapfrogging in tech. She eventually opened her own company (with her husband, no less) using their connections in tech sales. She ended up loving what she ended up doing because marketing at trade shows offered her the opportunity to do face-to-face selling and build more personal relationships with her clients.

Now I ask you all monkeys the same. Why did you get into your specific field of finance, be it PE/IB/AM/PWM?
