Why would a stock broker go to the bank?

So, I'm just doing some research, and I was curious if stock brokers ever actually go to banks for anything. Given that most of the assets from their investment activity can be automatically transacted online, is there any reason why they would visit a bank for any possible transaction? I'd really appreciate some in-depth information on this. Thank you very much.
