Blackstone offer could be rescinded?
Hi all, as from the title, I'm afraid my offer for BX SA 2025 in London could be rescinded.
I'm a EU citizen, and when I applied to the position I said I wouldn't need sponsorship for a visa on the application form. I had been to London for a 4 months exchange and didn't need the visa at that time because I had been told was only needed for stays longer then 6 months. I therefore inferred a visa was not needed for the internship as the SA is very short. I now came to know I do need a visa.
Now, do you think they will rescind my offer based on the fact I have said I don't need a visa while I indeed need one? I know BX always sponsors visa, but I'm afraid they will rescind my offer as it looks like I lied on the form (even though I didn't know).
Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights:
Visa Misunderstandings: Similar situations have occurred where candidates misunderstood visa requirements. For instance, in the thread titled "Citi - Int'l student got offer but contract says 'unrestricted authorization needed'", an international student faced issues because they indicated they would need sponsorship in the future, but the contract required unrestricted authorization.
Honest Mistakes: In the thread "RESCINDED FT Analyst Offer", a candidate's offer was rescinded due to an honest mistake on the application form. The candidate entered incorrect information due to completing the form in a hurry and was subsequently accused of misleading the company.
Communication with HR: It's crucial to communicate with HR as soon as possible. Explain the misunderstanding and provide any supporting documentation that shows it was an honest mistake. Transparency can sometimes mitigate the situation.
Company Policies: Some companies, like in the "Reneging" thread, have strict policies about rescinding offers if they find discrepancies. However, if Blackstone typically sponsors visas, they might be more understanding if you clarify the situation promptly.
Proactive Steps: Reach out to the recruiter or HR contact who handled your application. Explain the situation clearly and ask for guidance on how to proceed. This proactive approach can demonstrate your commitment and honesty.
Given the current date, November 15th, 2024, and your offer for Summer Analyst 2025, you still have time to address this issue. Act quickly to resolve any misunderstandings and ensure your visa requirements are met.

I don’t know
I don't think people know. Why not just speak with HR because it's not like you can get around this. I would just bite the bullet and speak with them. It's not like they can bend the rules for you. Either they'll sponsor or they won't. And you need to figure that out asap.
For all interested: just reached out to them and confirmed they will trigger my visa application 3 months before the start date.
