Breaking into BX or other PE firms summer analyst programmes from undergraduate level
What's the best advice you can give to an incoming (non/finance related degree) top tier U.K. university student (e.g. Oxbridge/LSE/UCL) wanting to break into a private equity role full time, more specifically a BX summer analyst programme. I know how the most common way into PE is after 2 years at a BB IB however, I am sure there must be other ways to break directly into London PE firms from an undergraduate level.
Any realistic info on this will be appreciated.
Yes. Apply for the program as you said.
Congrats on UCL
Network your ass off and get very good internships (IB or PE). Most people come from Master Programs but probably also good chances with Oxbridge undergrad (not UCL).

Thanks for that man!
I would appreciate if you could go into a bit more detail about a potential Undergraduate breaking into PE being 'quant orientated'. Also, when you mention being extremely driven, in what context are you talking about (e.g. the networking side of thinks, passion for the industry etc) ?
.
Impossible to get into BX PE in London as a UK undergrad unless you're willing to take a gap year out for internships (or if you're a prodigy - they might take 1 UK undergrad BA analyst every 10 years but point is its so rare there's no point trying), best bet is to do IB period. Went to a UK undergrad myself and have spoken to people directly on the BX PE team. Have friends from oxbridge who got CV forwarded by people on the PE team and HR would still ignore them because they haven't done a year of internships.
appreciate the insight
