Career Advice MM -> UMM / MF (Europe / UK)

Long-time WSO reader.

My current situation (details left out)

Did a couple of years in M&A (both Continental Europe and London) in good banks and groups (TMT / HC) and joined a smaller PE fund in Continental Europe beginning of this year, as IB did not interest me a lot and did not enjoy the work + i had interest in doing smaller deals. My comp package is roughly $180-220k cash + carry of 2-5% (fund is <$500m). Reading posts of people here making much higher cash comp in London ($300-400k) and perspective on $10-20m carry in 7-10 years and being able to make a ton of money as a partner makes me question if i made the right decision.

I enjoy the work at my firm, but mostly focussed on comp maximization in my life. I do not mind long working hours.

Should I try to laterial to a bigger firm if this is possible at all? Or stick it out and grow with the fund, however taking the risk of this not materializing at all? I have a feeling much more money is made in MF / UMM compared to MM / LMM these days in Europe, given the record fundraising environment.

Appreciate any insights from people in similar situations! Thank you
