Carry tax distros

Question for people who have received carry tax distros (not regular carry but just the tax distribution tied to a sale before any carry is allowed to be paid out of a fund). How much of this money typically have you sent to the IRS?  I assume a lot of the tax distro is owed to the states the income was produced in, so it might be wrong to send it all to the IRS?
