Case Studies - Project/Contract based Revenue Businesses

All,

Learning about project-based/contract-based companies now - particularly in the engineering space. Anyone with experience who can help me understand how to think about these - ie revenue recognition challenges, mismatches with revenues and costs, different way to structure contracts (cost-plus or any other regime and advantages/disadvantages of both)? Anything else I havent touched on that’s needed to understand the mechanics of these businesses? Thanks
