Consulting as PE Prep + Exits?
Hey Folks,
Background:
- I'm a rising senior at a top BB in their top group. For context, my IB group historically has the best exits out of the bank. We can go literally anywhere (sounds pretentious... I know)
- Frankly, I don't really like banking (primarily because of the hours)
- I'm applying for Bain & BCG (trying to work in PEG)
Questions:
- If I go consulting instead of IB for my first 2 years, how much does that limit me in terms of PE exits?
- What are the best PE firms that recruit consultants?
- If I'm not fully set on PE as a career, is it simply just a waste of 2 years to do IB for the sake of optionality?
Thanks for the tips, team!
