Exit Opportunities from Growth Equity Sourcing?

Hey, so I have a friend whose currently doing a 2025 SA role as a GE Sourcing Summer Analyst which is supposed to lead to a full time sourcing analyst role after graduating from a non-target business school at one of the following firms (Battery/PSG/Summit/TA/Insight). He does not know where its going to lead him in his career and wants to see what his exit opportunities would look like? He says its sourcing heavy but he wants to get a grasp or firm hook of potential exit opps outside of a sourcing role? Would he be able to break into MM PE firms? Maybe study up on technicals and get onto the investing or investment teams at other PE/GE firms? or even rank up at the firm he's at?
