Fucked up at work- what to do?

Hi guys:

I fucked up at work and was wondering how I can improve? I was staffed on multiple things and ended up having one thing fall through where a more senior person has to cancel his plan to spend time on it. How do you think of this? What can I do now, and what can I do in the future to recover?

Thanks
