Great Investment Podcast - Capital Allocators
Have been diving into this lately...really good podcast and he interviews a lot of great managers across a variety of asset classes. The questions are great, he doesn't interrupt, etc...
Any good podcasts you guys would recommend?
That's my problem on the WSO Podcast. I interrupt too much...not easy knowing when to cut someone off vs letting them flow because some things that are obvious or I feel are mundane may be interesting to listeners. definitely an art.
I'll check this one out, thanks for the recommendation! Patrick
Better to not interrupt and then edit out the bad parts... for good examples of excellent podcast editing try "The Knowledge Project"
However, don't let people ramble and go off topic... sometimes it's not interrupting so much as getting in a word to direct the conversation based on what you want to get out of it...
Just my $.02 thanks for what you do Patrick
yeah, i think issue is our ability / budget for post-production work is limited, so we typically just run it. Ideally as we scale back end of this year we can dump more in to make it better :-)
Hmmm I like the interviewing style a lot and don't find you interrupt much. You're your own worst critic. :)
A few other podcasts I enjoy listening to: - The Pitch: Equivalent to Shark Tank, but the podcast shows the diligence in greater depth (~20-30 mins per pitch/episode) - How I Built This: Hit or Miss, but it's interesting to hear a founder talk about how they've built their company. Also keeps you grounded, since most of these successful founders aren't the Target School --> IB --> PE pathway that many people on this forum think is the only way to succeed - Invest Like The Best: Very intelligent individuals (many of whom are professional investors) come on the show and speak to the host about a wide range of topics
+1SB. Big fan of Invest Like The Best. Patrick asks great questions.
Private Equity Funcast - couple guys from ParkerGale. Topics are more focused around the operational side of portco’s, but still a valuable listen for those looking to get industry-side perspective
The HPScast - relatively new podcast that stars partners and clients of HPS Investment Partners. Topics range from mainstream business, social, historical, and political issues depending on the guest.
Is this super credit focused? Could be an interesting one given credit isn't a sexy area and one I'd like to get a better grasp on.
I'd say credit is prevalent throughout the podcast but it isn't the central focus. Your exposure to credit topics definitely varies depending on who the guest is.
I personally gave the podcast a listen in hopes of learning more about HPS but ended up coming away genuinely enjoying the host, guests, and overall format.
