How important is a brand-name university in the UK for switching from IB to PE?

Hi monkeys,

hope you you are doing well. I have often heard that many on this forum name the lack of brandname university as their biggest weakness or their biggest mistake in life. I unfortunately also lack a brandname university and consequently hope to seek your advice.

I am currently interning at one of the best 3 banks (JPM/GS/MS) in a strong industry team (think Media & Comms / Tech / Healthcare). After listening to various people on this forum I also got a bit melodramatic and I now contemplating of doing a masters.

I personally I am not interested at all from a motivational perspective, really looking forward to work full time and tbh also lack the money to afford a masters, which would mean that I would have to finance my studies purely with a credit. So in short I am really against a masters degree, however I am a bit freaked out if not doing a masters would completely limit my chance to convert from IB to PE.

Most on this forum agree with the notion that brand name is important for converting. I have read that often headhunters do not approach you if do not have a brand name but even in  interviews there are a lot of biases against you and its difficult to get a coffee chat secured. However these posts & comments seem mostly US-Based, whereas there is less input from Europe (London specifically) bankers. So I was hoping one of you could give me a bit of advice on how to proceeed.

PS: Pls ignore the US country tag I cannot seem to remove it
