How to prep for FT PE recruiting

As title says. Going to a top EB RX group next summer for SA and planning to recruit for buyout PE/distressed PE for FT. I understand it’s going to be super difficult and competitive but is there anything I can to to prep for it? What is the timeline like for networking?

Appreciate any help, thanks so much!
