It depends on the firm. At my bank it isn't the norm - I'm at a large global IB and our holiday parties are usually just internal. However, at both of my parter's previous PE shops (both LMM / MM, so perhaps more of a community vibe), they had summer parties which had partners attend. My own experience is too narrow as a sample size, but maybe if others respond you'll get a good sample.

Holiday parties & annual offsite for my PE firm
No because then my gf would meet my other gfs
Worked at a MM bank and significant other met my senior coworkers at big events like Holiday Parties, etc. Outside of that my significant other was also invited when our junior team went out for happy hours or social events.
