Why are you asking? Offer, business relationship, interview, curiosity, etc?

I assume you know how to do a google search, but here is some info if you were not able to. The fund//operator seems more legit than JT Marlin from this info.

They seem fairly legit to me, though I'm not in the industry so I suspect others can comment better than I

 

Japonica has done some very cool stuff but I dont think they have been active for a few years - for what seems like very good reasons (no home runs = no deals). I bet that will change given the opportunities out there now. Paul Kazarian gave the keynote at the 2006 distressed investing conference. You should read The Vulture Investors if you want to know more about their background (it documents Kazarians first big deal).
