Lateraling as an Associate - On-Cycle?
I am a current second-year BB IB analyst with an existing offer to join a MM PE firm in summer 2023. How retarded is it to recruit on/off cycle for summer 2024 in the hopes of going to a better firm, and then lateraling from my current firm after a year (assuming the MM PE firm doesn’t find out). Is that how folks usually lateral as associates? I’ve seen people who leave PE firms after a year and move up-market, so wondering if they go through on-cycle twice
