Hello, Currently 9 months into my banking stint, I recently received an offer to join an MM PE firm (recent fund around 1 billion dollars) as an analyst, with no guarantee of associate promotion. I'm leaning towards not taking it given that I'd be putting all my eggs in one basket (which would be getting the associate promotion), as if I fail to I would essentially be looking again for PE associate roles with an immediate start. Would I be crazy to pass it up?

Are you at a BB/EB that typically places well? Was the associate seat you asking for a guaranteed promotion and them saying there's a path but not putting a guarantee on it in writing (ok, not common to have in writing), or them saying it's just an analyst program / not clear if they will have a seat for you (red flag imo). I also wouldn't take this, the associate thing doesn't bother me unless they are saying it might only be analyst program - bigger thing is this just isn't some unique opportunity, I would hold out.
