London Cinven partner comp expecations?

Hi, I recently found out a family member has a friend who is a partner at Cinven in the London office where I was introduced and had a call together.

As they were a family friend I thought I would be cheeky and ask about their comp and carried interest but sadly I got shut down, they said something along the lines of 'varies a lot and is down to performance but it's enough to afford most things and never have to complain about money but comes with a lot of hard work and sacrifices' etc...

My family member doesn't work in finance and has no clue what the partner is earning but they showed me pictures of their home and it looks incredible it must easily cost more than GBP5 million, it looked like a celebrity home that would be on MTV Cribs.

Does anyone have any idea what their base/bonus could look like as well as what their carried interest could be?

why on earth would you ask such a question? did you expect that the Partner show you its payslip? "Yes, sure one second - so last year i made €5.7m, i have accrued carry of €xx; last year i killed it with €xxm. My house costs >10m, and i have one in France and one on the countryside. My stock PF is up +xx%"".

i don't get it... you had a good opportunity to have an angle, and you blew it up.

amazingly done!
