London & NYC Recruiters for PE

Keen to get a sense of the current market for PE recruiting shops this year.

I’ve spoken with several of the main players and some emerging recruiters and it feels like many don’t actually have live mandates - instead, they’re “chancing their arm” by running searches and cold‑calling funds.

In one case, one of the big‑name PE recruiting shops mentioned they were hiring for an associate role at a particular fund. I happen to know a VP at that fund and cross‑checked - he told me it was completely false.

My goal here is to cut through the noise and figure out which recruiters actually have genuine relationships with the funds we’re all targeting. Hopefully, this intel can help the rest of us navigate who to engage with (and who to avoid).

Would love to hear others’ experiences and insights.
