Six months is indeed long for an IM, with 3 months being much more in line with market. I know some of the very large funds have longer notice periods but the MM / LMM ones appear to be shorter. Even IDs can often still be at 3 months.

All that said, the more senior you get the more separations become a negotiated outcome that often doesn’t mirror the contract perfectly. The contract is in place if the individuals cannot come to a reasonable agreement on separation terms.
