Management fees after exit

Hi All, how does PE management fees work? Is my understanding correct?

Let's say we have a $1bn fund. I start charging 20m at @2% the day fund closes (even if I don't deploy any money)

Then as I start exiting from investments and return capital to LPs, do I still get 20m p.a. or does this drop?

Thanks.
