PE Placement Agent -- What exactly do they do, and what are pro's and cons of job? AC

I've read a few times about this position, but still not exactly sure what the job entails, and what people like and dislike about it. Would greatly appreciate if anyone out there can shed some light on this position, and possible pay and exits... thanks.

Can’t comment on day-to-day specifics but PE firms hire these groups to raise their funds from LPs. Other threads on wso have mentioned that there’s little to no financial analysis/modeling, I think it entails creating informational decks on funds and facilitating the marketing process with institutional investors.

The placement agents help the funds raise capital. The analogy would be instead of marrying a seller and a buyer (M&A) you will be marrying a potential fund with an investor.
Day to day is investor calls, assistance with organizing DD information, speaking with investors and pitching funds to potential investors.
The fees in this space are absolutely huge. Additionally, once you get passed the analyst years, the hours are significantly better than traditional M&A and capital markets banking.
