PE Recruiting - what should I be doing?

Hi all,

I just started recently as a first year at a BB. I've heard that recruiting starts pretty early and want to start preparing as soon as possible. What should I be doing right now to make sure I'll be ready? Any recommendations for sample case studies/other resources? Thanks!

Reach out to the second year analysts you trust and ask for case studies they have come across and begin practicing building an LBO until you are comfortable with the process. Get your resume updated for when headhunters reach out to you and make sure that you talk to all the main ones. The second years on your team will be your best points of contact for who was helpful when they were going through the process. Apart from that just continue to perform well in your role so that you will be spoken of highly. Make sure you understand the ins and outs of your deals so that when interviews with headhunters and eventually PE firms come around that you can answer questions tied to them.
