Route to Private Equity

Hello Wall Street Oasis,

I'm a student at Georgetown University who wants to break into private equity straight out of college, however, I know this is quite difficult. I also know I don't want to go through the traditional investment banking route, so I am looking for alternative ways to enter pe. Would it would be possible to start with pe due diligence consulting right out of college, then make a transition into private equity? Would it be smart to do so, or is there a better option for me?

Thanks.
