Should I recruit to PE?

Currently 1 yr into associate stint at an EB (PJT, EVR). I think there’s a path to VP and we have decent dealflow but I’m just worried I’m going to miss the boat on PE recruiting forever, even if eventually i do want to come back to banking. Another component is my family is in Florida and i dont think theres a meaningful banking presence in florida. I cant decide - should i recruit and risk not getting promoted in PE but learning new skills? Or stay put? (I don’t hate it currently, getting better) Any advice on how to gain clarity?
