Skipping 1st year PE recruiting

I'm a first year analyst at a solid MM tech group that is very interested in private equity, but due to personal constraints (military-related) I'm missing part of my first year. With the process being moved up so much I feel like recruiting as a first year doesn't make sense since I'll have even less experience to go off of than the average first year and I really haven't had much of an opportunity to give IB a chance (not that I'm looking to be a lifer or anything). Can anyone speak to the pro's/con's of recruiting off-cycle and/or waiting until my second year to recruit on-cycle?

I recognize this may be a somewhat unique situation. Thanks in advance.
