Timing of Summer/Fall '20 On-Cycle Recruiting

Wondering if any of you currently working in PE know what the pulse is at your firms as far as when on-cycle recruiting will pick up this year. From what I understand it started in late August in 2019, but didn't know if places intended to wait a little longer this year because COVID.

This is a dumb question - even if you're asking people at Thoma no one will really know until the week before at the earliest. Before I left my firm (MF) we were hoping it would get delayed but our view was someone would inevitably jump the gun in August so were preparing for that. Not sure how that'll be done given much of training is virtual, however if one firm starts all others will need to recruit at that time as well.

As someone who went through this last year this is the correct answer - not sure what the rest of you want, no one knows in a normal world and I'm sure fewer people even have an idea now. Take this logically - a lot of these firms don't know when they'll even be returning to the office, so take that COVID uncertainly and lay it on top of the normal uncertainty and you'll hopefully realize you're not going to get anything more precise than a wide range (happy to give you one if that puts your mind at ease but it is worth nothing).
