Asset Management Career Path (Pay, Hours, Exit opps)

Hi all, I was laid off two months ago and have been applying around. I applied to an AM position for a solid company, one I have been interested in working for in their Cap Markets department but always seems to be light on openings there (possible internal transfer if AM isn't working out?). Anyways, what can I expect from a position like this in terms of pay (what can you expect mid/senior level), hours (I'm guessing somewhat chill since these are not live deals?), exit opps, and what you actually do on the job (hopefully mostly underwriting?). This particular position seems to be managing a portfolio of all MF. I honestly was hoping to pivot to an production type position for a debt originations/IS team because I wanted to be working on live deals but I'm open to this as well if the pay and lifestyle is solid through mid/senior levels, and if not then if exiting to another role is easy enough. All info is very appreciated. Thanks!

If it is multifamily, then WLB is probably going to be pretty good as long as they are generally class A buildings. Not like there are a ton of workouts in that part of the market right now.

Hours and comp are going to depend if you are internal or at a servicer. Servicers typically pay a little less, but at associate you should be around 130k all in and at VP,  you should be around 215k all in (assuming non-NYC).
